We want to help you enhance the enjoyment of your home any way that we can so when a one of our Dallas client's asked us if we could install a tree swing, we said "sure thing". Tree swings are fun and can bring hours of enjoyment to your children, but they can damage your tree if not installed properly, here's where we can help.
Before installing a swing your tree should be assessed for it's health, here's our three-point assessment criteria:
-
The tree needs to be established and sturdy, mature hardwoods like oak or maple are the best choices - avoid more delicate trees like birch, willow or ash
-
The branch that will hold the swing is thick enough; the rule of thumb is to attach it to a branch that is at least 8" in diameter
-
The tree is in good health, cracks or splits in the trunk along with dead or hanging branches indicate a tree that isn't in the best shape
